Welcome

A welcome message from the Chair of the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology

Dr. Kimberly Smith

Welcome to the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology! Our Department is housed on the first floor of the Health Sciences building, which we share with other departments in the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions and the College of Nursing. Our Department boasts 3 dedicated classroom spaces, the Â鶹Ïà¹Ø±¨µÀSpeech and Hearing Clinic, and 10 independent faculty research labs. Faculty in our Department educate and mentor students across all 4 of our academic programs, from undergraduate to graduate.

The mission of our Department centers around our most important stakeholders – the students of the Â鶹Ïà¹Ø±¨µÀ and the patients and clients from the Gulf Coast region who are served in the Â鶹Ïà¹Ø±¨µÀSpeech and Hearing Center. These very important stakeholders are supported by expert, nationally and internationally recognized, full-time faculty who are directly involved in clinical education, academic instruction, and ongoing research with the purpose of informing best practice in speech-language pathology and audiology.

Our gradate programs in Speech-Language Pathology (MS SLP) and Audiology (AuD) have maintained consistent accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology for over 40 years. This success is undoubtedly attributed to the outstanding faculty, talented students, and College and University support provided since the founding of the Department in 1967.

If you would like to speak with a current student ambassador or faculty member, please email our Department
