Application Process

You will only be able to apply as an exchange student if you have been nominated by your exchange coordinator at your home institution. Once your nomination has been accepted, you will be contacted by OIE to start your application and submit preliminary documents. Such documents include:

  • Â鶹Ïà¹Ø±¨µÀUndergraduate or Graduate Application
  • J-1 Exchange Student Application
  • J-1 Exchange Affidavit of Financial Support
  • Passport Copy
  • Bank Statement (in English)
  • Learning Agreement
  • Letter of English Proficiency (test scores not required)

Once these documents have been received, OIE will submit your paperwork to the Office of International Admissions and Student Programs (OIASP) and the Office of Immigration (OI), with whom OIE works closely in processing your application. Once admitted, these offices will contact you with more information regarding your admission, DS-2019, visa information, insurance information, etc. OIE will also move your exchange application to the next phase where you will have additional information to provide, activate your university e-mail, apply for housing, register for courses, etc.

  • Fall Semester Dates: mid August to early December
  • Spring Semester Dates: early January to early May
  • Fall Nomination Deadline: March 15
  • Fall Application Deadline: April 8 (submission of preliminary documents)
  • Spring Nomination Deadline: September 1
  • Spring Application Deadline: October 1(submission of preliminary documents)
